Streakin Up North

Sox Update: Another balanced effort and the Sox beat Toronto 5-3. Konerko finally breaks out of the 0 for 26 slump. Dye's "streaky" hitting is now offically at two games on the positive side - he was 1 for 3 with a homer. Iguchi was 2 for 5 and had a SB. El Duque gives up 3 ER in 7 IP, striking out 4.

Down On The Farm:

Charlotte (AAA): Mercifully, rained out.

Birmingham (AA): Its a virtual 'hit parade' as the Barons take down Chattanooga 12-7. Rogo goes 4 for 6 with 2 RBI, Owens, Sweeney, and Blakey each had three hits (though Blakely struck out thrice, as did Fields and Young). Stewart had two hits, including a homer and 3 RBIs.

Winston-Salem (A): Lose 13-10 in a slugfest to Potomac. Collaro Watch: 1 for 5 with a double (he's in a bit of slump, isn't he?). Garcia homers and drives in 4. Amador was 2 for 4. Flores pitches 4 and 1/3rd, giving up 8 ER on 8 hits and 3 walks - yikes!

Kannapolis (A): Lose 6-5 to Lake Co in 12. De Los Santos continues to have a good year at the plate, and was 3 for 6 on this night. Liotta struck out 7 in 7 IP, giving up 2 ER. Hurd lost it in relief, giving up 2 ER and 2 walks while retiring no one.

Baseball phrase of the day: spank v. to bat the ball sharply.

Today's music selection: I keep finding myself going back to the overlooked classics. Today it was Lloyd Cole's masterpiece Don't Get Weird On Me, Babe, which I listened to on a train that was more crowded than usual. While looking at my fellow commuters standing in the asiles, my gaze landed upon a stunning woman with flowing, two-colored shoulder-length aubun hair, big brown eyes, a low cut top and a nose stud. This scenery made the claustraphobic situation much more tolerable.
