Sox Update: After numerous quality starts, Contreras finally gets a win. He pitched 8 innings, struck out 6 and yielded just one run. Sox win it by scoring 2 runs in a hitless 8th inning (though Mr. Zero tried his best to blow it). That's good news if you're a female stripper in Toronto who happens to be working tonight.

I think this quote from KC Sweeney's pitcher Zack Greinke sums up the Sox year thus far:``Their lineup last year, every batter you're thinking, hey watch out, that guy could hurt you. Now, it's like you feel more comfortable pitching against them but they'll beat you more because they've got that sneaky success against you,'' Greinke said.

One other thing - The Sox have led in all 28 games this season, a major league record.

Down On The Farm:

Charlotte (AAA): Why do the Knights occassionally win a game? Because they have Brandon McCarthy. Against Norfolk, he threw 8 scoreless innings, and struck out 10. Charlotte was able to muster the offense, barely, to eek this one out, 1-0. I predict 4 straight losses coming for the Knights, beginning tomorrow.

Birmingham (AA): off day.

Winston-Salem (A): lost 5-4 to the Keys in 11. Collaro Watch: 0 for 5 with a run scored. Nanita was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs. I'll post the Collaro interview tomorrow.

Kannapolis (A): Beat Lake Co 7-3.

Baseball phrase of the day: rush seats n. unreserved general admission or bleacher seats.

I did eat Mexican for dinner tonight. Sadly, it was Mexican food, and not Selma Hayek.
