Charlotte (AAA): Not even McCarthy seems to be able to help the Knights anymore. Brandon pitched 5 innings giving up 5 ER, 2 homers and 3 walks in a 5-4 loss to Ottawa. He struck out 7. Thru monday's game, the Knights are 9-22 with a .290 winning pct. Only two teams in pro baseball are worse, and they come from Class A - Clearwater (Florida League) at .194 and West Virgina (South Atlantic Legue) at .233.

Birmingham (AA): Beat Mississippi 7-4. Young goes 2 for 4 with a homer a two RBIs. Rogo also got two hits, including a triple.

Winston-Salem (A): won 6-5 over Salem. Collaro Watch - 2 for 5 including a solo homer. Valido was 4 for 5. Hall drove in 2. Amador was 2 for 4. Molina was 2 for 4 including a homer. Haeger gets the win and is now 5-0. In 6 IP he gave up 2 ER and 3 walks, and struck out 6.

Kannapolis (A): rained out.

Also, its official, baseball will be holding a World Cup style tournament beginning next year in the spring featuring pro players.

Olde Tyme Movie Review: Noble Rot (1979) starring and written by Don Novello and John Belushi. Well, not really. I will probably never see that classic because it will probably never get made. I've alwyas wanted to read that script. I watched Sideways (2004) which isn't really old, but it was awful. I was surprised because I think it won some Oscars. I didn't like either of the main characters The dialogue and cinematogrophy fell short. Plus, I don't like wine snobs. My neighbor is a wine snob, and it takes all the fun out of wine. I like good wine as much as the next guy, but wine is meant to be gulped at meals, not sipped out of $150 bottles. Virgina Madsen looked hot, though.
