Thirsty Thursday

Work is kicking my ass. I have to find a way out this meat grinder. I need more sex, less work. But it was thursday, so I drank a few Old Styles whilst watchin the game.

Sox Update: El Duque gives up 4 ER in 5 IP, and the Sox get off to a bad start, losing to the Tribe 8-6. Everett had an incident with the wall that I didn't see. The injury may not be too serious, but we can only hope. Cotts also gave up 2 ER in 2 IP. The Sox were rallying in the 8th, when "Mr. Swing At Everything" (that'd be Iguchi) swung at the first pitch he saw from Rhodes, and popped out, leaving runners stranded at the corners. Konerko homered and drove in 3. Rowand had two hits. Dye looked great up at the plate. Sox hobble home to face the Mariner this weekend. Pods may be on the bench with a pulled groin.

Minor League Update:
Charlotte (AAA): It was a "Thursty Thursday" down south. But despite the $2 beers, there were no riots. McCarthy gets the loss in game one of a make-up double header, both of which the Knights lost by indentical 4-1 scores. BM gave up 3 ER in 4 n 2/3rds IP and struck out 5. The 2-run homer from Wise was the difference. In Game 2, Stewart gives up 2 ER in 4 IP.

Birmingham (AA); rained out. again.

Winston-Salem (A): ...lost to Myrtle Beach 2-1, but Collaro homers!

Kannapolis (A): ...lost to Ashville 7-5. Hernandez was 2 for 4 with a homer and 2 runs scored.

Baseball phrase of the day: pale hose n. nickname for the Chicago White Sox.

I'm on the Scott Hattesburg chapter in Moneyball. Facinating stuff. Makes me think that, somehow, this would make a great movie.

Today's music selection: Haydn, Symphonies 95-99 as performed by the NY Philharmonic.
