Tavern review: Jimbo's

Looking west across 3300 South Princeton, down 33rd Street.

Since McCuddy's met the wrecking ball in 1989 to make way for the "new" Comiskey Park, Jimbo's has had the distinction of being the tavern closest to 35th and Shields. Once located just on the other side of the left field stands, its now 2 blocks north of the stadium, on the far end of Armour Park.

Jimbo's is a neighborhood place, that gets jammed before and after Sox games. The inside is appointed with the usual sports bar trappings. They've set a few tables out on the sidewalk of 33th street, and roped them off. This alfresco experience is a pleasant place to enjoy a cold one (or five). As long as there are no drive bys.

Jimbo's also serves food, albeit hidden beneath a thick layer of deep fried crust. The shrimps were tasty and served with a lot of extra bread.

The waitress I met there was HOT.

Jimbo's is at 3258 S. Princeton.
