Sidd Finch Turns 20!

Myth..legend...

The Mark Fidrych-like myth born from the mind of the late George Plimpton turns 20 today. I won't retell the tall tale here. If you want to know more, just type "Sidd Finch" into any search engine and read all about it. What I will tell you is that I vividly recall first hearing about (and believing, I was a fool at 16, I'll admit it) Mr. Finch while waiting in line outside Wrigley Field on a cold spring day. I don't recall if I was waiting to get into the bleachers or waiting to buy tickets for the promising 1985 season (Shawon Dunston!), but I do remember thinking that the Mets had a lock on the NL East in 1985 if this Finch guy could indeed throw 200 mph...
