Vintage Mats Videos

Just found this link to some super rare vintage Replacements videos on YouTube.

Check out the high-quality stuff from the 7th Street Entry circa 1981. Tommy looks fresh outta junior high. They also look surprisingly sober.

To see how far they've slid, or how much they've grown, check out these audio files I picked up off Stosh's blog (which he lifted from Jim Rome):

Interview with Tommy Part 1

"Message To the Boys"

Interview with Tommy Part 2

The best and saddest part of this is when Tommy talks about what a good time the 80s were to be young and stupid and how lucky they all were to survive it, "oh, except for my brother Bob (Stinson, the band's original guitarist who died of an overdose)".

Then, Tommy goes on to talk about the NBA playoffs.

Sad. Sad. Sad.

You can also hear a sample of the 'new' Westererg, I mean, Replacements, song, 'Pool & Dive' here.

One thing you can also do at the Rhino records site is watch the great amazing hilarious video from 1986 for 'Bastards of Young'. Hands down, best most artistic video ever. Don't miss it.
